| Welcome |
Welcome to Semper Dius. We are a Order guild forming for the game Warhammer Online. Semper Dius will be playing on a European server. |
| Our Idea |
What we wish to achieve is a dedicated core of members who are all treated equally, so there will be minimum ranks within the guild structure. If you are looking for a guild where you earn respect by being an officer or leader then please do not bother reading this post, we believe in everyone being equal as I mentioned earlier. The way you earn respect is by being a good player and not just being the first one to join the guild, commitment to the guild and what it stands for along with your play style earn you respect, not a title.
The guild structure has not yet been organized as of yet, though it is currently under construction because we do believe in having certain members who will help sort out events if they wish to do so, though as I said this wont mean you earn special titles.
Update: We have made a lot of progression lately and as for the guild structure we decided that each race will have his own leader and one main leader. The raceleaders will be elected by their own race. So the dwarven raceleader will be elected by the dwarven townsfolk, etc. for the human and high elven. We're currently in full development so a strict structure has yet to be made. Stay tuned.
For an up to date view on our ideas, read the status updates in our Guild News. |

| Posted: Jaycen @ Mon May 05, 2008 7:26 pm |
April has come and gone. Spring is the time for change, and Semper Dius is no different. This is a summary of the changes over the last month.
GM Handover
The call of Real Life (TM) hits all of us at some point - and a Guild Master is no different. Mithran, the founder of Semper Dius has rightly decided to concentrate on his real life focuses. He graciously passed the torch on to Jaycen (me!) - I hope that I can do as excellent a job as he has done in bringing this great community together.
Beta
The first rule about beta, is that you don't talk about beta! With creative juices flowing more members have been given the privilege to test the game before release. This is great for learning playstyles and personalities in a game environment.
However, please remember the restrictions of the beta, so you do not compromise any members' eligibility. The most important thing to note is, if you have the benefit of having beta tester status, that you make the most of it.
WAR Pre-orders
The Collector's Edition of Warhammer Online was revealed to an eager public, have you got your hands on a copy of the pre-order?
Apprentice Spots
No overall consensus could be made around Apprentice spots. It is likely that this idea, or a version of it, will be kicked around for a little while longer. The general feeling by most participants was to make the most out of the great applications we get.
Honour or Scalps?
Xebek came up with a great question to Guild Members - Just what kind of PvP'er are you? If you haven't taken a look at the discussion I think you should - you may find out more about your guildmates than you first thought!
Ooer Missus!
A question was raised by a visitor to our forums regarding our girlfriends / wives / significant others playing the game as part of the guild. A poll was created to discuss the premise. The consensus was that it would be great for them to join us in the guild, but they would essentially be "shadow" members: not taking a position spot without first making an application of their own.
Have you got the time?
A question of time was raised by Arkhis to best convey times to meet up when players are in different timezones. While there was a lot of banter around the subject. The result is that all times should be referred to GMT (eg. GMT +1 etc.) to avoid confusion - as everyone knows their relation to the GMT timezone.
Fresh Blood
Welcome to :

Goodbye to the following members:
Mithran [Sabbatical - removed from roster but still a member]
Tsx [Sabbatical]
Mofasa
Insight
Hugo Leonard
Musse
Rayner
Skoll
Good luck to all of you, and we hope to see you on a battlefield in the future!
Activity
As a note to the above, a good proportion of the above were removed due to inactivity. It does not take a long time to check the forum every day or so. Due to the changeover I gave a good few people an extended grace period - this won't happen in the future. The Rules are quite clear, if you need a refresher they can be found here.
I know Real Life rears its ugly head at the worst of times. If you are absent but cant make a post on the absences thread, then please feel free to email me confidentially at legalis@hotmail.com
I hope you all have a happy and prosperous May

March, month of rain and easter holidays. Let's summarize what has happened and is still happening this month guild wise.
Refining Recruitment
Currently we’re refining the recruitment, more info for members here.
Guild Artists
Congratulations to Jaycen and Mizaki with their quadruple victory!
Apprentice Spots
Jaycen raised an interesting idea which is currently called “Apprentice Spots”. In short it will give a few select less experienced players the opportunity to learn from Semper Dius members by accepting them into the guild as “apprentice”. How this will work is still being discussed and when it’s final it will be made public.
Server Type
While Arkhis tried to start an informative poll, it turned into a which-server-type-you-like-most poll. While Open RvR having the upper hand atm, I’d like to ask everyone to first wait, see and test both types when they have the chance. After you know how both server types really work (this isn’t WoW), then make a decision on what type you like the most. This will certainly be discussed more closer to launch.
New Website Skin
As you might have noticed, the website looks a little different than before. Thanks to Mizaki, the creator, and everyone who contributed in its creation. For those who’d wish to keep on using the old skin, you can select it under your profile.
And if you haven’t noticed it yet, the main site of Warhammer Online has a new look too
Class Swapping
You log in and find out that the class you picked is really not your style and you don’t like to play it at all. When this occurs, a class swap could save you and we discussed the problems that would arise and solutions we could use to counter these. Lots of things were suggested and you can read them all again here, here and here. After many discussions and headaches, I forged a system of everything that was suggested and after its approval, it was added to the Guild Guidelines so you can look it up when you think you really need it.
Fighting spam
The amount of spam that used to float around on the forum had been infecting several important topics so they pretty much became useless. To counter this I proposed a few systems like the warning (yellow card) system and locking down a few forum boards to prevent other races their access. While this wasn’t a really healthy solution and the ideas sounded a bit too extreme, new rules regarding spam have been written and can be found back at the Guild Guidelines topic. I’m very happy with the result and the forums are now rolling really well regarding spam and important topics don’t get affected by it anymore. Hurray for us
Goodbye
Kritjon, zar and Azeth. See you guys on the battlefield!
And Welcome
Crosswire, Snurf, Nibs and Haldir!

Thanks to Mizaki we now have a new default template for our website/forum that looks even more WARish . For those still liking the old template, you can choose it at your profile under the template option.
Thanks again Mizaki

Another month, another write-up! February was extra long this year. 29 days instead of 28, damn those leap years. Im not very fond of them. An extra day of school or work is never fun. February is also a month of skiing, so I hope nobody had any major bruises or broken legs or arms
New forum code
In the next few days Ill finish the rewrite of the backbone code of the forum. Well finally have sub forums, hurray!
More info can be found here and you can always post a suggestion in the topic:
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=609
Art & Movies
A new board has opened this month, called Art & Movies. If youre good with motion pictures or have a talent for painting or anything art related, then feel free to show us your work on this board!
http://www.semperdius.net/viewforum.php?f=20
For those new to art and movie creation, I wrote a list of tools you can use here:
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=530
If you decided on what tool to use then use google to find some tutorials and off you go. Remember that everyone starts with the basic things though so dont expect masterpieces in a few days time. Good luck to those who try though
Class swapping
What if I dont like the class I decided to play as my main? Its been brought up a few times and for now class swapping is not allowed due to the fact that we need to maintain our organization and structure.
The discussion can be found here:
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=469
This will be discussed further closer to launch though.
The Greenyskin Awards
Quote: Welcome to the first ever Greeny Awards. A Greeny is similar to an Oscar, Grammy, or Emmy award in that it tries to honor the very best in a given field. Our hope is to recognize the top Warhammer Online community sites as voted by the public. Without further adieu, here are your 2007 winners in the various categories:
http://thegreenskin.com/greeny-awards/
As you can see we ended on the 3rd place of the Order guilds. This means a lot to us as were the first EU Order guild on the Order ranking. A big thank you to those that voted for us, it means a lot!
Guild story writing
Mizaki started to write a story about Aern and the courier. Aern is a Shadow Warrior who wanders around the lands of Warhammer. On his path he meets several guild members.
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=593
Mael also made a nice story called Tales of a dwarf The Maelstrom You can read his story here:
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=567
Enjoyments to read!
Removal of KGBmarinac & Aldred + the leaving of Decollo
2 members have been removed this month. The first one is KGBmarinac. His behavior was immature at times and by ignoring my warning he crossed a line which he cannot cross back in the near future.
More details can be found here:
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=542
Because activity is pretty important and a regular check on the forum doesnt seem that hard to me, I find it pretty viable that you show that you want to be part of this community and want to put effort in it. Therefore your activity is also logged and can be found back here:
http://www.semperdius.net/activity.php
Aldred went red a few times and after a notification he was removed due to lack of interest in the guild and showing no real participation.
Absence isnt punished as long as you notify your fellow members that you will be gone for a while in the absence thread.
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=34
Its not nice when someone just disappears without notifying anyone and it might play into your disadvantage.
Decollo felt like he couldnt keep up with the other members activity and therefore decided to leave the guild.
http://www.semperdius.net/viewtopic.php?t=556
Good luck to these guys though, Im sure youll all find a guild that fits your play style and play times more
To vote or not to vote
Because voting is the most important part on the forum, I did a little survey to see who voted when and who voted on what. The outcome was pretty obvious, most people (50%) only vote on important polls. What struck me most though is that not everyone seems to read all the new posts. When I asked to reply when you voted, it seemed that a few didnt even bother to read my reply and ignored my request. Topics categorized under guild discussion and guild development are top priority. When you click the new posts link, it shows up under which category the topic is posted. Try to keep up with those topics though. If you wish to reset your new posts counter, you can do this by clicking the mark all forums read link at the bottom of the index page.

War-RvR guild spotlight
War-RvR offers guilds to put themselves in the spotlight on their webpage. We did a very nice interview, but looks like Fahran kind of disappeared since he last updated the spotlight in January. For now you can read the interview here:
http://www.semperdius.net/files/interview-war-rvr.html
A big thank you to Rayner, Sterling and Sleepyhead for the extra aid in writing this up!
New members
A very warm welcome to Alterran, Mizaki and Azeth. I hope youll enjoy your stay at Semper Dius!
